SkipperGuide
SkipperGuide is one of the first and most important wiki- based area guides in Germany for sailors ( skippers ) and water sports enthusiasts .
The wiki was officially launched in early 2006 and has been subject to continuous development since then. The wiki currently includes over 2,000 pages of information on a wide variety of sailing areas, marinas and topics related to seamanship. In the area of special interest “sailing”, the website is one of the most important German-language online media. The site contains advertisements and is operated by a private person from Munich.
All content is subject to a free license .
technology
SkipperGuide uses mediawiki as well as semantic maps and other plugins to support the special requirements of a district guide. Furthermore, SkipperGuide and OpenSeaMap are closely interlinked - maps and coordinates are displayed via OpenStreetMap and OpenSeaMap, the marinas from SkipperGuide are referenced from OpenSeaMap. SkipperGuide thus represents the official port manual from OpenSeaMap.
