The root head

This former rootstock stands upside down at the entrance to the open space with the other figures. He shows a face with very prominent hair growth. Here you can also see how the sculptures develop over time according to the artist's will through nature. New plants and trees are growing in the hair of the head.

Lumbago

The sculpture was made from a 120 year old linden tree with a diameter of 1.15 m and a circumference of 3.6 m and shows how a grinning witch shoots the man standing under her in the back with a bow.

The tree world

The carving was made from a 230-year-old oak that stood above Zähringen, a district of Freiburg . This oak was classified as a natural monument , but fell over in 2006 without any external influence because the lower part was hollow and the roots were brittle. The material of the bottom 4.5 meter long piece was economically worthless and should be transported away, it broke into three parts. Thomas Rees fastened the three parts upside down on an iron plate with gaps between the parts and secured them at the upper edge with steel ropes, between the three parts he hung a ball made of oak weighing around 100 kg on chains. This sculpture was then designed and the forms of mythical creatures recognizable by it were made visible inside and out. A walk-in sculpture was created, a world of trees, as the sphere is a symbol for earth. Thanks to the mirror attached inside, every visitor can become this tree world for a short time.

Kite nest

The kite's nest

The group of figures was created in 2005 and consists of a seven-meter-long dragon and the associated nest with an egg. The kite was made from an approximately 200 year old oak that fell over by itself at the Wonnhalde tram stop.
