The Skumin syndrome is an uncommon name for a psychopathological syndrome after implantation of a heart valve . The main symptoms are irrational anxiety , depression, and insomnia . Asthenia is often added.

The name refers to the author of the first description from 1988 by the Russian doctor and psychologist Victor Andreevich Skumin .

The name is not common (outside the Russian-speaking area) (no entries in Pubmed).

The frequency is given as up to 27.5% of patients with an artificial heart valve.
