Slovak Share Index

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Slovak Share Index (SAX) is a Slovak share index .

The Slovak SAX stock index was first valued on September 14, 1993 at 100 points. The SAX currently contains seven shares. The largest weightings are assigned to the banking and raw materials industries. The SAX is a capital-weighted index that compares the market capitalization of the seven stocks with the market capitalization of the same stocks on a reference day. Price fluctuations and dividend payments are factored into the index. Until June 30, 2001, the index was formed on the basis of average prices. Since July 1, 2001, however, the index value has been calculated using the previous day's closing prices.
