Model of a SmallGEO satellite

SmallGEO ( Small Geo stationary Satellite) is the name of a satellite bus that is used for geostationary satellites . It was developed by OHB , is used for communications satellites and is largely built in Germany. The start-up financing and development took place within the framework of ESA's ARTES program for the development of products and services for satellite communication.

Technical specifications

The 2.3 m × 1.9 m × 2.5 m satellite, which weighs up to 3.2 tons, is designed for payloads with an output of up to 3.5 kW and a weight of 400 kg. The energy supply is ensured by 2 solar arrays, each 9 m long. Navigation in orbit is done with the help of a conventional chemical or ion propulsion system . The planned service life is 15 years.
