The Smart Package Manager is free software that can manage and install software packages on many Linux distributions .

Because the Smart Package Manager on the respective distribution own format ( rpm , deb , Slackware ) and mechanism ( yum , APT , URPM ) builds up, it is suitable, in order to present a uniform interface for the software management across many distributions, without the configuration to change.

The Smart Package Manager is characterized by the convenient resolution of package dependencies. This allows him to be more efficient than many other solutions. According to the developers themselves , the computer program works better than the comparable programs Urpm, yum and APT. He can also access repositories that are made available for other package managers .
