Sniffin 'glue

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sniffin 'Glue was a British punk - Fanzine . It appeared monthly from July 1976 to September 1977.

Editor Mark Perry leaned the name on the Ramones song Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue . The first editions had a circulation of around 50, and later 15,000 copies. A drawing of a three chord progression with the text "this is a chord, this is another, this is a third. Now form a band" ( This is a chord. This is another one. This is a third. Now founds one Band. ) Is often attributed to Sniffin 'Glue , but originally appeared in the Fanzine Sideburns .

Perry finished when he felt punk was becoming part of the mainstream music press. In the last few issues he encouraged his readers to set up fanzines themselves, which hundreds of punks did in the next few years. The last issue contained a flexi-disk from Perry's own band Alternative TV . Among the better-known authors was the future radio commentator and comedian Danny Baker .

In 2000, Perry published the book Sniffin 'Glue: The Essential Punk Accessory , which contains all of the old editions as well as new texts by Perry.
