So pip

The So Pip ( Thai ช อ ปี บ , English Saw Peep ) is a string instrument that is played in the northeast of Thailand , the Isan .

The sound body usually consists of tin cans or cans for kerosene or caramel candy. The bow is made of wood with horse hair stretched between the ends. A similar instrument is the Sor Kapong (Saw Krapong, in Thai ช อ กระป๋อง ). Both are played as a solo or accompanying instrument.
