The Sobibór Landscape Protection Park (Sobiborski Park Krajobrazowy) is a nature reserve of the Landscape Protection Park category in the Lublin Voivodeship , Poland .
It is named after the village of Sobibór , which became famous for the extermination camp . The park is located in the area of the Powiat Włodawski , in the area of the three rural communities Hańsk , Wola Uhruska and Włodawa with the place Sobibór.
The park was founded on March 28, 1983, has an area of 111.66 km², a buffer zone of 90 km² and is itself the buffer zone of the western Polesie National Park (Poleski Park Narodowy). The region belongs to the Łęczyńsko-Włodawska Lake District.
The protected area comprises 75% forest (pine, birch and alder), 5% peat bogs and swamps, 10% meadows, 2% agricultural areas and 2% water areas. In the park there are six nature reserves with 16.7 km², which make up 15% of the total area. One reserve includes Lake Orchowe, and another protects the European pond turtle . The animal world besides including eagles , lesser spotted eagle , black grouse , bittern , goldeneye , great crested grebe , black stork and the minnow . The flora includes 100 plant communities, 55 of which are rare, 44 of which are protected.
