Société des Africanistes

The Société des Africanistes is an Africanist society that was founded in 1930 with the aim of the scientific study of Africa and its inhabitants from the most ancient times to our days. Its main activities are the publication of an interdisciplinary scientific journal, the Journal des Africanistes , and the organization of monthly conferences. The company is based in the Musée du quai Branly (222 rue de l'Université, 75007 Paris ). Marcel Griaule was its general secretary from 1940 until his death (1956), Germaine Dieterlen from 1956 to 1975.
