Social dining

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Social dining is the meeting of a group of completely new people for a meal, either at a person's home or in a restaurant. The philosophy behind it is to get to know other people and to exchange ideas while eating. The food itself can be a dinner, a brunch, a coffee and cake table and other food-related occasions such as a white dinner .

Forms of social dining

Called private restaurants, they are small restaurants in private apartments. Private individuals prepare a menu at home and serve it to a group of strange guests. These are usually organized by professional chefs, and several courses are often prepared at a high level. Participants can make appointments via platforms on the Internet, among other things.

Another form of social dining also involves cooking together. Each participant in the social dining group has a specific task from the entire menu.

In addition, social dinners can also be held in public places such as restaurants.

history

The movement originated in New York in 2010. Before they later opened their own restaurant, Felipe Donelly and his wife Tamy Rofe decided to organize a dinner for foreign guests once a week. The trend is now spreading in more and more large cities, including Germany.
