Sociedade do Samba
Sociedade do Samba is a Brazilian pagoda band from Rio de Janeiro .
Career
The band was formed in 1994 by Renatinho (vocals), D. Rain (keyboard), Marquinhos (pandeiro), Digo (surdo) and Kichute (trumpet) during a roda de samba event in a bar in the Lapa district of Rio de Janeiro. An occasional session became a regular event. There they were discovered by Denison das Neves, who signed the group. 40,000 copies of the first album Dona de Mim have already been sold and the songs Não Pedi Para Me Apaixonar , 24 Horas , Nossa Relação and Amor became great successes. The band got their first fan clubs and reached wider audiences outside of Rio de Janeiro. They were awarded the title Grupo Revelação do ano de 2002 by the radio station FM O Dia . With the second album, the Sociedade do Samba released the hits Ciume and Distancia . The singer Perlla recorded the song No Rádio with Sociedade do Samba . At their concerts, Sociedade do Samba show a wide musical repertoire of samba, Pagode Romântico ( romantic pagoda ), pop and hip-hop.
