Menstrual sponge

Sponge tampon made of foam with packaging

A menstrual sponge consists of pure natural sponge or foam and is one of the products for monthly hygiene . The threadless sponge is used by many menstruating women as a supplement to conventional products such as tampons and sanitary towels.

Compared to products made of foam, natural sponges can be cleaned and used several times.

It is inserted like a conventional tampon . The menstrual sponge should be inserted until it can no longer be felt. By moving, the sponge positions itself directly in front of the cervix. It is removed by either inserting her index or middle finger into the small opening provided or by using two fingers to pinch the sponge tampon, the so-called tweezer handle, and then pulling it out. If the sponge cannot be reached, a crouching position is recommended. This position shortens the crossroads. The sponge can also be squeezed out with muscle power. Another option is through a vaginal shower. The sponge tampon fills with water and can be removed more easily by muscle contractions. As with a conventional tampon, the usage time should not exceed eight hours.

Some sponge tampons made of foam have slight indentations on the long sides for a better fit or a small opening for easier removal.
