Soyuz (Union Association)

Soyuz [ sʌˈjus ] ( Russian Союз , 'Vereinigung', 'Union') was a union association of People's Deputies of the Soviet Union .

Soyuz was founded as a movement on December 1, 1990. She stood up for the preservation of the USSR as a hegemonic and territorially unchanged country. Its leading representatives included the conservative CPSU members and People's Deputies Viktor Alknis, Juri Blochin, Evgeni Kogan and Sergei Baburin . Its representatives came from the areas of the military industry, the KGB , the Interior Ministry and the party apparatus of the CPSU. In the Supreme Soviet and the Congress of People's Deputies of the USSR Soyuz did not have the majority. But it was the strongest faction against the reforms of the General Secretary of the party Mikhail Gorbachev .
