from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sol , in German sun , is a Portuguese weekly newspaper that appears in Lisbon on Saturdays . It belongs to the Angolan offshore media group Newshold , which is owned by Isabel dos Santos , the eldest of the Angolan president's daughter, and also has a 15 percent stake in the Cofina media group ( Correio da Manhã , Record etc.).

Sol was founded by José António Saraiva , a former editor-in-chief of the weekly Expresso , and appeared for the first time on September 16, 2006. Like its direct competitor Expresso, it appears in the Berlin format . According to a study published in October 2014 by the Portuguese media institute APCT , the average sold circulation is 22,345 copies.

The magazine Tabu and the program guide Essencial appear weekly as supplements . The culture magazine Cubo appears as a monthly supplement.

In all matters that the Angolan owner considers relevant to her - and in view of the multiple relations between Portugal and Angola , there are quite a few - she gives the direction.
