The Neuhardenberg solar park is an open- air photovoltaic system in Brandenburg , which was built in 2012 on the site of the Neuhardenberg airfield . In 2015, a battery storage power plant was also built.

Solar park

The solar park consists of several sub-areas with a total output of 145 MWp on 240 ha and was the most powerful solar park in Germany and one of the largest in Europe when it went into operation. The annual standard work capacity is around 140 GWh . This corresponds to the average electricity consumption of around 48,000 households. The system was set up by around 2,000 fitters within five weeks, and the opening took place in October 2012. The project was realized by the investors ENERPARC AG (80 MW), ecos-energy GmbH (20 MW), MEP Asset Management GmbH (23 MW) and BaySolar AG (20 MW) under the project management of ENFO AG. The total investment was around EUR 200 million. The first electric Porsche Taycan was presented to the public there in 2019 .

Storage power plant

In 2015, a battery storage power plant based on lithium-ion accumulators with an output of 5 MW and a storage capacity of 5 MWh was built on the site, which was officially opened in July 2016 after 15 months of trial operation. The main task of the storage facility is to provide system services such as B. the stabilization of the network frequency. The storage system can perform the same control function as a conventional power plant with 100 MW and save greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions by reducing the must-run output of fossil power plants . The storage facility, made up of five identical modules, has an expected service life of 18 years and was funded by the State of Brandenburg with 2.85 million euros. The construction costs amounted to approx. 6.25 million euros.
