Hautecourt War Cemetery
The German military cemetery in Hautecourt is home to 7,885 war dead from the First World War . It is located on the road from Abaucourt-Hautecourt to Étain in the Meuse department .
history
Hautecourt was laid out by the French military authorities in February 1920. Smaller German cemeteries were dissolved and merged here. Up until the 1930s, war dead from the Verdun battlefield were collected here. The cemetery was inaugurated on July 7, 1933. The city of Essen took over the sponsorship .

Of the 7,885 who died, 2,885 rest in individual graves; 106 remained nameless.
A total of 5,194 victims rest in the three communal graves.
For religious reasons, the twelve graves of the fallen of the Jewish faith were given a grave stele made of natural stone instead of a cross, whose Hebrew characters say:
