The STAR detector

STAR ( acronym for Solenoidal Tracker at RHIC ) is one of four experiments at Brookhaven National Laboratory researching the quark gluon plasma . STAR concentrates on the measurement of hadronic observables (in contrast to PHENIX , which searches for leptonic signals). The STAR experimental setup hermetically encloses the collision zone of the gold atomic nuclei, so that an almost complete reconstruction of the generated particles is possible.
