The special weapons store Brand was located southeast of Brand and north of Schönwald in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg .
It was built in 1962 and was one of the special arms depots of the Group of the Soviet Armed Forces in Germany (GSSD). The nuclear free-fall bombs stored here were probably held for the 911th Fighter Bombing Regiment stationed at Brand Air Base . The regiment belonged to the 105th Jagdbombenfiegerdivison in Grossenhain, which was subordinate to the 16th Air Army.
The plant included u. a .:
- Monolithic storage bunker (with upper and lower floors) of the basalt type .
- Transshipment bunker (6 m high) with loading crane
- Technical head building with ventilation system (LTA), power supply (ELT) and emergency power system (NEA)
- Guard bunker (USB), vehicle hall, accommodation building (with social facilities), boiler house
