Special payment (Austria)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Austria, a special payment is an additional remuneration that is granted for longer periods than the usual contribution periods. The Christmas bonus and the holiday allowance are known above all , which are also called 13th and 14th wages (for blue-collar workers) and wages (for white-collar workers). The term special payment also includes severance payments, profit shares, balance sheet money and pension and special pension payments.

Payment and the amount of special payments are partly regulated by law, partly in collective agreements, works agreements or individual employment contracts. For employees, a monthly salary each as Christmas and vacation pay is usual, the payments usually take place in November / December and June / July.

Special payments within the so-called sixth of the year are not taxed with the progressive income tax rate , but with a fixed tax rate. However, under social security law , special payments are part of the remuneration and are therefore subject to mandatory contributions.
