Other cost units in the health care system are service providers who pay for medical services outside of the statutory health insurance companies .

This includes:

  • Social care,
  • Community service,
  • Police,
  • Federal Police,
  • Armed forces,
  • EU / Intergovernmental Agreement,
  • Federal Compensation Act,
  • Accident insurance carrier.

Police officers of the federal police, state police, community service and the armed forces

It is based on the employer's duty of care (= free welfare care) towards soldiers, community service providers, police officers and border guards (different country regulations for the police). The coverage corresponds to that provided by the statutory health insurance. B. BEMA04 is used by dentists.
The spouse and children of professional and temporary soldiers, police and border guards are entitled to aid. In certain cases (e.g. retirement from active service), the voluntary welfare care no longer applies, then the subsidy scheme applies again.

Accident insurance carriers (employers' liability insurance association)

Employees who suffer damage to their health as a result of a recognized accident at work or an occupational disease are generally entitled to medical care at the expense of the statutory accident insurance. This means that the GKV accident insurance institutions (employers' liability insurance association) have to cover the costs of medical treatment. Treatments that are not related to an accident at work or an occupational disease will be billed to the insurance provider with whom the patient is usually insured (GKV or private).

Federal Pension Act (BVG)

The legally insured persons who require medical treatment due to recognized damage or health disorders caused by recognized consequences of damage are entitled. The Federal Ministry of the Interior, as the competent authority, determines eligibility for aid. These can be people

  • which are due to the service of the weapon, z. B. suffered injuries during World War II ,
  • who are injured as Bundeswehr soldiers on deployment abroad,
  • the soldiers are on time
  • who do their military service,
  • who take part in military exercises.

Under certain conditions, their surviving dependents or relatives are also eligible for assistance under the BVG .

EU / Intergovernmental Agreement

Eligible persons

  • Persons insured abroad who are temporarily staying in Germany (according to EC law and treaty law)
  • Persons insured abroad who are domiciled in Germany (according to EC law and treaty law)
  • insured Rhine boatmen (according to treaty law)

The beneficiaries identify themselves with a claim card and their proof of identity (identity card or passport).
