Stacy - Attack of the Zombie Schoolgirl ( Jap. ステーシー , Sutēshī ) is a Japanese low-budget - Direct-to-DVD - Horror production of director Naoyuki Tomomatsu in 2001, based on a story by Kenji Otsuki. The film was released on DVD in Germany on August 8, 2005 .

action

In a gloomy vision of the future, at the beginning of the 21st century, all girls between the ages of 15 and 17 worldwide will be afflicted by a mysterious disease. The epidemic is initiated with the so-called “pre-mortem ecstasy”, a period of time in which the infected become noticeable through excessive feelings of happiness shortly before they die. As soon as they die , they mutate into bloodthirsty zombies , the "stacys", who henceforth pursue their lust for human flesh - with devastating effects. The earth's population will be reduced by around half in several years.

In Japan, girls who wear school uniforms are primarily fought and disposed of by rather poorly trained killing squads, the so-called "Romero rescide units", in addition to family members. The effective and final annihilation of the walking monsters only occurs when an infected body can be broken down into exactly 165 parts. In the meantime, a highly decorated scientist is experimenting on Stacys in order to decipher the clinical picture and to find a solution to the "problem".

The activities during that time are told in the film in several parallel, sometimes meaningless storylines. The restrained puppeteer Shibukawa falls in love with the young, attractive Eiko , whose inexorable transformation into a murderous creature is imminent. The happy schoolgirl demands that her beloved one "kill her again" when she returns. Irritated and hesitant, he accepted the offer and saw it with a heavy heart. In addition, there is the student Arita , who voluntarily joins the Romero killer units in order to illegally rescue his lover Momo , a friend of his deceased sister who has already become Stacy, but fails. Arita dies, like other members of the special forces unit, from outside influences.

At the end of the film, an off-voice says that the situation has relaxed in the meantime. Stacys are no longer considered abnormal and murderous, but are an integral part of a new society. Furthermore, the walking undead would enter into solid partnerships with the living, from which descendants have since formed the last stage of evolution. Shibukawa's written romantic story has since been considered the "Bible of a new millennium".

Reviews

“A horror comedy with few ideas, but dripping with blood, which turns the sex symbol of the uniform-wearing schoolgirl into its apparent opposite and ascribes everything to him. The film recorded on DV exaggerates (sexual) fantasies in order to capitalize on the thin story. "
