The Sophia Church is a church in the Frankfurt district of Frankfurt-Bockenheim .

Building

The church, designed by the architect Nikolaus Ruff (1934–2002), was built by the Frankfurt Congregation of the Christian Community - Movement for Religious Renewal . It is the last church by Nikolaus Ruff and is considered an important building of anthroposophical architecture in Frankfurt. The church interior is designed according to the laws of space and counter space. The ceiling rises like two pairs of wings to the east. The ceiling is highest above the communion step. Left and right are not rigidly symmetrical, but in their difference they again form a higher symmetry.

The building was consecrated as a ready-to-use shell on the 1st of Advent 2001 and has been used for church services ever since. In summer 2016 the color scheme and the natural stone floor could be realized. Another building planned by Nikolaus Ruff with u. a. The foyer and the sitting room could not be realized for financial reasons.
