Sornitz (Moxa)

Sornitz is a desert near Moxa in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

history

The place was first mentioned on October 16, 1295.

During the Thirty Years War , the village on the left of the road to Ziegenrück was completely destroyed by fire. The village was rebuilt immediately above the former settlement area in the form of an anger square village. The new village is today's Moxa.

The medieval Sornitzburg, on the right of the path to Ziegenrück, was also devastated in 1640. The site of the moated castle was converted into a pond in 1884.
