SoundTracker is a free , GPL- licensed music program of the type tracker , written by Michael Krause and runs under GNU / Linux , BSD , macOS , SunOS and IRIX . There are also advance payments for a Windows port.

SoundTracker replaces the functionality of the DOS program Fasttracker  II (for technical details see there), but the user interface is much clearer. The playback routines were taken over by the Open Cubic Player .

SoundTracker, Schism Tracker and CheeseTracker are the most important trackers for unixoid platforms, see also list of trackers .

The last official version requires GTK + 1.2, which is no longer available in most Linux distributions. There is an unofficial GTK 2 port, but its GUI animations eat up a lot of computing time due to the inefficiency of GTK 2.
