The Sovereign Base Areas Police ( SBA Police for short ) is a British police unit that is responsible for protecting the British army bases Akrotiri and Dekelia in Cyprus .

The police unit was founded in 1960 and is responsible for protecting the facilities as well as the military personnel and their relatives. It currently employs 253 people, including 12 civilian employees. The Base Areas Police has three police stations and its own prison in Dekelia as well as a dog squadron. It is not a part of the Royal Military Police , it is but the Ministry of Defense assumed and recruited from officials of the civilian police .
