Social technology

Social technology refers to the use of sociological knowledge to bring about planned changes in society. The term is not sharply defined and is sometimes used synonymously for social engineering . Both state and private actors can use social technology.

The term is often used negatively by sociologists or social philosophers, e.g. B. by Jürgen Habermas , who polemicises against Luhmann's system theory.
