Spaetzle slicer

A spaetzle slicer is a tool with which spaetzle can be produced efficiently.

It consists of two parts: the plane and a funnel. The funnel is located in a rail to ensure precise guidance on the planer. The plane is usually made of stainless steel or plastic and measures around 30 centimeters in length.

To make the spaetzle, the slicer is placed on the edge of a saucepan with boiling water and the viscous dough is poured into the funnel, which flows through the holes of the slicer into the pot by sliding the dough container back and forth. The length of the spaetzle is determined by the viscosity of the dough and the speed of the carriage.

There are two common variants:

  • With a plane for producing short and thick buttons, holes are punched out in the rail,
  • For the production of long spaetzle, similar to the scraped one, the openings are smaller and short prongs lead the dough downwards.

The same purpose with approximately the same method reaches the spätzle , with a different method (pressing the Teigreservoirs) it meets the Spätzle press . The spaetzle strainer is also used as an alternative . Suitable perforated disks are also available for passing devices such as the Flotte Lotte .
