A dishwasher or dishwashing system is a device for machine cleaning . The items to be cleaned is with solvents and solubilizers (usually dissolved in water surfactants ) or compressed air purged be removed whereby solids, liquids and microorganisms. At the same time, it can have a cooling effect (especially in metalworking). Other purposes of flushing can be, for example, stopping a chemical reaction, recovering detached substances or wetting surfaces.

“Dishwasher” is often used synonymously for dishwashers . In the parlance, “dishwashers” are understood to mean closed devices with detergents in a cycle, while “dishwashers” tend not to return the detergent.
