Wrestling

In the inter-war period, athletes such as Poldi Adler , Josef Förg , Joseph Moser and Sebastian Graßl formed the backbone of the team. In 1938, the SpVgg was also able to record a victory against the American national wrestling team. After the Second World War, the financial end came first. After rescuing the department, she initially returned to the top of the Bavarian Oberliga, and in 1973 she was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga South. After a third place in the 1977/78 season, he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga South in 1980. The first team is currently celebrating promotion from the Bayern League to the Oberliga, the second team in the District League Obb./Schwaben. For Freising, thanks to the committed youth work, two student teams can start in the Obb./Schwaben regional league and in the Obb./Swaben regional league.

The department repeatedly succeeded in producing nationally successful wrestlers: Helmut Weißenbach became German runner-up in 1978, Günter Niedermeier and Christian Unützer succeeded in 1983. Stefan Brümmer became German champion in 1982, Unützer won two runner-up titles in 1984. In 2008 Oliver Straub was successful in the national championships and moved into Freising as German champion. In 2011 Leonard Wessalowski was able to fight for the bronze medal at the German championship and repeated this success in 2014. Richard Krimmer triumphed in 2012 at the German individual championships for youngsters in free style in Kleinostheim (Hesse). Krimmer was surprisingly German runner-up in the 85 kilo class. It was only in the fight for the gold medal that the strong Freinger had to bow to the powerful Erik Thiele from Leipzig.

At the 14th German Masters , held in 2011 by KSV Siegfried Bad Salzgitter, our "Mister German Masters" Richard Schuhböck competed to represent the colors of SpVgg Freising. Like last year he won two medals, which gave hope for another success in 2012 at the German Masters in Freising.

Richard competed in the 41 to 45 year old up to 85 kg class. He was able to have Greco adorn himself with the gold medal, since his rivals from previous years had apparently stayed away or switched to other weight classes.

In freestyle, Richard met Levon Asatrjan, RSV Hansa Frankfurt / Oder and Erich Marjalke, KSK Konkordia Neuss. He suffered a point defeat against both athletes. In the fight against Andreas Hübschmann, AC Taucha, it was all about everything. A place on the podium or one next to it. Ritschy unpacked his fighting skills, swept his opponent off the mat with an 8: 1 win on points and thereby secured the bronze medal.

Weightlifting

The department was established by Rudolf Ismayr in the mid-1930s . Ismayr became Olympic champion in Los Angeles in 1932. In 1934 he brought the talented Josef Manger to Freising and in 1936 also led him to victory at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. In February 1937 Manger set a new world record for pushing both arms with 140 kg. After the end of the Second World War, the lifting department was dissolved and only re-established on July 7, 1968. In 1983 she and Dieter Biechl became the German champions in the weight class up to 75 kg. 1985 came the final end.

Judo Department

The judo department existed between 1964 and 1987. 1974 and 1978 it was Upper Bavarian team champion, 1975 and 1977 runner-up. From the judo department, the JudoClub Freising eV emerged in 1964, which is now a completely independent association.
