Under clamping technology refers to the fixation of a workpiece or a tool for machining the workpiece.

For lathes see chucks .

For machining centers , a chuck or clamping device is fixed on the pallet, depending on the shape of the workpiece.

The workpiece is chucked or clamped on a mandrel for the most precise clamping to fits . For this purpose, a workpiece is clamped or screwed into the chuck and then a fit is turned on, on which the workpiece to be machined is then fixed by means of a center screw or screwing.
