The Sparkasse Mühlviertel West Bank AG is an Upper Austrian banking company based in Rohrbach-Berg .
Founding history
At the end of April 1856, the Rohrbach market town decided to set up a savings bank. It should be a district treasury including Aigen, Haslach and Lembach. At the end of June of the following year, the municipality assumed liability and set up a guarantee fund. But the district office ended its preparatory work for the establishment of a savings bank in mid-July 1860 because of the competitive situation that had arisen from an orphan fund that had been established in the meantime. In 1868 the mayor resumed efforts to found a savings bank. In mid-March, the community again assumed liability for 6,000 guilders, and the draft statutes were approved. At the beginning of April an application was made to the district office under these conditions. At the end of October, the statutes and the establishment were given the official sanctuary, and in early February 1869 it was opened.
Structural development of the main institute
The rooms occupied in 1869 turned out to be too small after a few years and therefore the Sparkasse moved in 1877 to the town hall in what was then the municipal office. Ten years later, these allocated rooms also turned out to be too small, so that in 1887 house No. 11 (today Stadtplatz 24) was purchased for 24,000 guilders. In 1912, house no. 10 (today 23 Stadtplatz) was bought. During the Second World War, the savings bank building was under attack and suffered severe damage. With the reconstruction carried out in 1952 and the modernization carried out at the same time, the damage was finally eliminated. In 1959 the building at Stadtplatz 24 was rebuilt and rebuilt in 1975. Since the mid-1980s, ongoing renovations and adaptations have taken place.
