The cutting head excavators Spartacus the Belgian DEME Group is built by the Royal IHC shipyard in Krimpen Netherlands.

history

The Spartacus is one of the most powerful cutter excavators in the world. It has a total installed output of around 44,000 kW and can excavate to a depth of 45 m. The 164 meter long dredger is equipped with modern motor systems for propulsion and power generation. The four main diesel engines can be operated with LNG, diesel oil or heavy oil. Both diesel generator sets have dual fuel technology and can be operated with LNG or diesel. The diesel engines are equipped with systems for waste heat recovery, the exhaust gas boiler of which extracts electrical energy from the exhaust gases.
