history
DEME was created in 1991 as part of a global concentration in the dredging industry through the merger of the two Belgian competitors Baggerwerke Decloedt & Zoon (founded in 1875) and Dredging International . The latter was in turn created in 1974 through the merger of the hydraulic engineering divisions of Ackermans & van Haaren (founded 1852) and Société Générale de Dragage (founded 1930).
GeoSea took over the shares in Hochtief in 2015 from the joint venture HGO InfraSea Solutions , which was founded in June 2011 with the construction company Hochtief , and thus withdrew from the offshore sector.
