Speed Dice is a simple laying and party game by the Israeli game designer Haim Shafir , which was released in 2014. It is a game for two to four players in which words have to be laid out as quickly as possible with the help of letter cubes.

Style of play

In Speed Dice , it's about to put words as quickly as possible with the help of seven of eight letters dice per player. The fastest player throws the eighth die into the funnel-shaped recess of the box; the die below identifies the winner accordingly.

In the first edition, the game material consisted of four sets, each with eight dice in four player colors and a cup chip printed on both sides; in the second edition, the cup chip was removed. There is also a funnel-shaped cube in the bottom of the box.

Game flow

At the beginning of the game, each player is given a set of dice corresponding to the color of his chosen player. All players roll their eight dice at the same time and then try to form a word or a crossword from seven of the eight dice. If they succeed, they throw their last dice into the dice bowl as quickly as possible. The player whose dice is on the bottom was the fastest and wins the round.

In the first edition of the game, the winner of the round received the cup chip and placed it in front of him with the silver side up. If another player won in the next round, he could take the trophy. If a player succeeded in winning a round twice in a row, he would turn the trophy on the gold side and win. In the second edition, the winner of the round may place his or her dice from the dice tray on the side of the dice tray and has one less die available for the following rounds. If it is proven to a player that he threw the first die into the bowl, although his words are incorrect, he must take a die from the middle next to the thrown die (if he has a die in the middle). In this version, the winner is the player who is the first to place the third die in the middle as the winner of the round.
