Storage capacity

The storage capacity describes the maximum amount of data that can be stored in a data structure or in a data memory.

The term storage space is often used synonymously with storage capacity , but can also stand for the storage requirement (in bytes ) of a data object (as in the case of files or directories ). In addition to these meanings, storage space is also sometimes used in the sense of a storage element.

Dimensions

Since the storage capacity represents a particular amount of data, it will be in the same units as measured this, ie in bit , byte and multiples thereof, which by means of attachments for measuring units (abbreviated prefixes can be made). The storage capacity is often not specified in decimal, but in binary multiples using binary prefixes .
