Spencer Douglas David Compton, 7th Marquess of Northampton (born April 2, 1946 ), is a British peer and politician.

He is a son of William Compton, 6th Marquess of Northampton (1885–1979) and Virginia Lucie Heaton (* 1919). When his father died, he inherited his title of nobility including the associated seat in the House of Lords . With the House of Lords Act 1999 he lost his hereditary seat in parliament.

The 2011 Estates Gazette Rich List lists his net worth at £ 120 million . Until March 2014 he was also in possession of the Seuso treasure .

He is a Freemason and served as Pro Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England from 2001 to March 2009 .

Marriages and offspring

He has married six times and has four children.

His first marriage was in 1967 with Baroness Henriette Luisa Bentinck (1949-2010). He has two children with her, Lara Katrina Compton (* 1968) and Daniel Bingham Compton, Earl Compton (* 1973). The marriage ended in divorce in 1973.

In 1974 he married Annette Mary Smallwood in his second marriage. The marriage ended in divorce in 1977.

In 1977 he married Rosemary Ashley Morritt Hancock for the third time. He has a daughter with her, Emily Rose Compton (* 1980). The marriage was divorced in 1983.

In 1985 he married Ellen Erhardt, his fourth marriage. With her he has a daughter, Louisa Cecilia Compton (* 1985). The marriage ended in divorce in 1988.

In 1990 he married Pamela Martina Raphaela Haworth in his fifth marriage. The marriage was divorced in 2013.

In 2013, he married Tracy Goodman in his sixth marriage.
