Spend Abazi (born May 7, 1978 in Kuçova , Albania ) is a former Danish featherweight boxer .
career
Spend Abazi was Danish Amateurs Champion in 1997, 1998 and 1999 in the featherweight division. He played his first professional fight on March 26, 1999.
On September 21, 2001 he won the EBU European bantamweight title against the Russian Alexander Jagupow (match record: 32-4), which he was able to defend against the Spaniard Jose Fuente (11-1) and the Russian Dmitri Kirillow (20-0) . By early 2007 he had won 35 out of 36 fights. He suffered his only defeat to date in February 2001 just on points against the Kenyan Athanas Nzau, but had won the rematch in November 2002 unanimously.
On February 23, 2007 he boxed for the vacant IBF Featherweight World Championship and lost by giving up after the eighth round against the American Robert Guerrero (19-1).
