Special research area

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Special Research Areas (SFB) are a funding instrument of the Austrian Fund for the Promotion of Scientific Research (FWF), which is aimed at scientists from all disciplines. This means that larger interdisciplinary research projects that are concentrated at one location can be funded in the long term. The SFB can therefore be compared to the German Collaborative Research Center . The duration of an SFB is a maximum of 10 years, after 4 and 7 years a decision is made whether to continue.
