history

The building complex was first mentioned in 1475. During this time, several owners of higher (noble) class (Staudacher / Zenger / Gumppenberger / Sewbolstorffer) are proven.

In 1570 the building appears in Sanden's city model.

Around 1598 the building was partially demolished and rebuilt. And in the same year it became an administrative building for the collegiate monastery of St. Martin and St. Kastulus. A room for the clergy was built on the first floor. The reason for this was that the St. Kastulus Abbey was relocated to Landshut that year by the Bavarian Duke Wilhelm V of Moosburg and incorporated into St. Martin.

During the period of secularization , the monastery was abolished in 1803 and the building became the property of the state in 1804. From 1806 the state used the building as a fron festival . It was converted for this purpose. In the courtyard (to the southeast) a number of functional buildings were added (wash house, horse, chicken, pigsty, carriage shed ) and the courtyard was used as a spice garden and even had nut trees . In 1857 the building was expanded.

In 1908 the Bavarian state sold the building to the city of Landshut. A pawn shop then used some of the rooms in the building until 1922. From 1920 the welfare office (Sozialamt) moved into the building. This use ended in 2005. In 1934 and 1935, some rooms on the first floor were used as the “Museum of Criminal Justice”.

From 2005 to 2012 the building was empty and was not used.

In 2012, Lebenshilfe e. V. the building from the city of Landshut. In mid-2014, the renovation and conversion was completed, and Lebenshilfe e. V. moved into the renovated building complex. On August 25, 2014, the Lebenshilfe café opened on the ground floor.
