content

Jan and Edward, brokers and lawyers by profession, compensate for their boredom with “tear-open competitions”. However, they lack the ultimate kick, so these games soon lose their appeal. So come up with something new: Jan should record the panicked screams of a person, a creature he has humiliated, on tape. Edward is supposed to have one of his innocent clients convicted. However, Edward's candidate, Maria Olin, is Jan's new flame. And the journalist Anna, who has an appointment to view Jan's apartment, is Maria Olin's best friend. The two women are also playing a game.

Reviews

“The balance of power between the characters is constantly changing. Cynicism and vulnerability, repression and aggression overlap in a subtle clinch. The dialogue is food for actors: deeper layers gradually reveal themselves without straining the characters through self-portrayal or comments. "

- Judge Erika Stephan gave reasons for the award ceremony at the Rostock authors' competition in 1999

“Egocentric lone fighters in an ice-cold single society are those who are mentally and emotionally burnt out who can only find meaningfulness and self-affirmation in fast sex and in the humiliation of others. In his relentless finding of the heroic life of the 'new center', Buchsteiner's play is by no means an isolated case in the literary landscape. Everyone fights against everyone - as in Moritz Rinkes Republic Vineta and Marius von Mayenburg's parasites. "

- New Germany

“With this energetic work, some will feel offended. But you can zap yourself on television through feel-good stories. "
