The Spieljochbahn is a four-kilometer cable car in the Tux Prealps that leads from the western outskirts of Fügen to the Spieljoch .

Technical specifications

In the 1973 built Spieljochbahn is a gondola company Girak , four people can be transported with their cabins. The valley station of the cable car is at a height of 641 meters, the mountain station is 1860 meters high. The distance between the two stations is 3925 meters. On the steepest incline, the track has a gradient of 74 percent.

The Spieljochbahn consists of two sections, which are sometimes also referred to as Spieljochbahn I and Spieljochbahn II . The first section ends at the middle station of the train, which is 1198 meters high, where the gondola cabins are first uncoupled and then slowly pass through the station to get on and off. The cabins are then coupled back to the same support cable and the ascent is continued on the second section of the railway.

For the 2017/2018 winter season, the ropeway was rebuilt by Leitner ropeways as a 10-person monocable gondola . At 3000 people per hour, the new lift transports twice as many as the old one.

Spieljochbahn ski area

The ski area of the same name runs alongside the two sections of the Spieljochbahn: the panorama train Geols (since 2015), the 6-seater chairlift Arzjoch (since 2002), the Onkeljochbahn (since 1989) and the T-bar lifts Onkeljochlift , Mösllift and ski school lift .For 2020 is a merger with the mountain railway Hochzillertal planned. Furthermore, the Onkeljochlift is to be rebuilt as a 10- person gondola lift by 2018 .
