As a rule, it is a two-layer cardboard box in a sandwich construction , which is glued by a light-tight adhesive blackened with graphite . This dark layer makes the cardboard opaque and the printing on the game side cannot be seen through the card even in backlight. The paper surfaces are usually white and coated , the printing takes place on the coating color and these can also be satined, embossed and lacquered. Card stock weighs at least 305 g / m², but it can also be heavier.

use

Playing card board is mainly used for the production of high quality playing cards, especially for casino and tournament cards. In addition, they can be used with other types of cards where opacity is desired or necessary. Examples of these are prepaid - telephone cards , scratch cards, membership cards, security cards and others.

Alternatives

As an alternative to playing card boxes , plastics can also be used for playing cards and especially for poker cards . Plastic poker cards retain their original shape and can hardly be kinked or marked. For simpler and cheaper playing cards, a thinner cardboard is used, which lacks the black graphite layer and which is called quartet cardboard. This is usually lighter than cardboard boxes.
