Sports Federation 1907

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sport-Bund 1907 was a local football association for Bonn and the surrounding area.

The sports association was probably founded in October 1907. He owned the Bonn clubs FC Normannia, FC Britannia, FC Borussia, FC Hertha and BC, as well as FC Rhenania Sieglar, BC Lindenthal, FC Bad Neuenahr, Dürener SpV. 1906 and FC Preußen Neuwied.

Newer clubs were regularly refused admission to the established football associations, often even after they had already existed for a number of years. On the one hand, associations were very interested in seeing football represented in hitherto underdeveloped places and at the same time allowing additional "head taxes" to flow into the association's coffers, on the other hand, existing clubs should be protected from local competition. Many association clubs themselves were not viable due to insufficient membership, poor club management, internal quarrels and withdrawal or disqualification from the game. Nevertheless, clubs willing to accept in places with existing clubs were constantly advised to join existing clubs, but this rarely happened in practice. At the same time, new clubs were deliberately driven into isolation by bans playing against “non-association clubs”. Especially due to the creation of the regional associations, there was no more local substructure to accommodate the constantly increasing number of new clubs and thus give them the opportunity to play regularly.

Several of the above Clubs were refused admission to the West German Gaming Association , others, deterred, did not even attempt.

What became of the Sport-Bund in 1907 and whether championship games were ever played is unknown.
