The Sporting Club de Lyon was a French ice hockey team from Lyon and the first champions of the Ligue Magnus .
history
Sporting Club de Lyon was one of the founding members of Ligue Magnus , the highest French ice hockey league , in the 1906/07 season . After the team was able to prevail in a group consisting of three teams against the city rivals Hockey Club Lyon and Star Club Lyon, it met in the final on the Club des Patineurs de Paris , which was confidently defeated 8-2 in Lyon. In the following season, the two teams faced each other again in the final for the Coupe Magnus . On neutral ground (in Chamonix ), however, this time the Parisians were just able to prevail with 2: 1. Following the 1907/08 season, the Palais de Glace de Lyon was closed, whereupon the Sporting Club disbanded. This also had an impact on the game operations in Ligue Magnus, as the two city rivals Lyons could no longer participate in the championship and the game operations were only resumed in the 1911/12 season.
