Sportwagon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Italian automobile manufacturer Alfa Romeo sells the station wagon versions of its sedans under the name Sportwagon (formerly Giardinetta ) .

At the beginning of 1984 Alfa Romeo was one of the first manufacturers who dared to rob the station wagon of the image of the sedate "packhorse" with its Alfa 33 Sportwagon and to give it a sporty touch. The German manufacturers of sporty cars BMW and Audi as well as other automobile brands around the world soon joined this trend towards the lifestyle station wagon .

The last station wagon to date with the designation “Sportwagon” was the 159 built from spring 2006 to autumn 2011.
