Speak from a distance

Speak from afar is a poem by Clemens Brentano , which he wrote in 1801. It is one of the most famous works of the Heidelberg Romanticism . The poem comes from the Romantic era and deals with the motif of nature. Religion and the night are present as secondary motifs. The poem is about the fulfillment after an encounter with another world. The lyrical self experiences this encounter with all of its senses.

The poem consists of nine stanzas with four verses each. “Sprich aus der Ferne” has a song-like character and consists of alternating chorus-like, short and long-line stanzas.
