Spray cork

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Spray cork is an insulating sealant made from granulated cork that is bonded with adhesive and can be used in many ways for sound and heat insulation .

It is mainly used to seal connection joints between window frames and masonry, on doors, on partition walls and other structural elements . The sealant is also suitable for spraying expansion joints when laying floors.

Spray cork consists of fine-grain cork grist and an elastic binding agent. Usually it is also coated with dispersion. The many air-filled cells in the cork granulate make it an insulating material that reduces the passage of heat and cold and also has a soundproofing effect . Injection cork is one-component, viscoplastic and stable. It can be processed with a grout gun or by hand.

If only small quantities are required, you can make your own spray cork by crushing bottle corks in a food processor and mixing them with gum arabic and a little water .
