The track Commission is a joint commission of forensic medicine and forensic institutes in Germany.

It was founded as an institution of the German Society for Forensic Medicine and has four representatives each from forensic medicine and four forensic science . The facility is headed by Peter M. Schneider (Institute for Forensic Medicine at the University of Cologne ). The GEDNAP interlaboratory tests for quality control in forensic trace research and DNA analysis are carried out under the supervision and according to the specifications of the trace commission from B. Brinkmann's Institute for Forensic Genetics (Münster). The results of the round robin tests are presented and discussed at the annual trace workshops.

The trace commission also drafts recommendations, such as for the biostatistical interpretation of mixed DNA traces and for the statistical evaluation of hits in the DNA database.

"On the possibilities and limits of the DNA-based prediction of external body characteristics, the biogeographical origin and the age of unknown persons on the basis of crime scene traces in the context of police investigations" the trace commission has written an opinion.
