The Spyglass, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPYG) was a US company for Internet software in Champaign (Illinois) . The company was founded in 1990 as an offshoot of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to market developments by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).

The most famous product was Mosaic , one of the first web browsers.

When Microsoft wanted to develop its own browser, it came to a license agreement that gave Spyglass one percent of the revenue. However, since Microsoft sold its Internet Explorer free of charge from the second version onwards, Spyglass only received the minimum commission .

In 2000, Spyglass was acquired by OpenTV as part of a share swap for $ 2.5 billion.
